For us, the most noticeable change would have to be his overall level of awareness of the world around himself. He has always been very attentive, looking around at everything. But now, he turns to your voice when you're talking and he notices all kinds of noises and tries to figure out where they're coming from. He also loves to touch things and tries to grab whatever he can get his little hands around. When I read to him, he tries to grab the book. When he gets a bottle, he tries to hold the bottle. Even when I'm nursing him, he tries to grab me (Chris says he's a smart boy)!!!
One not so fun part of life for Mason is teething. For the past month he has become a little drool monster, constantly sucking on his hands and putting everything he can get into his mouth. His mood has still been pretty good and he is still sleeping great, but you can definitely tell that he goes through periods of discomfort and frustration. A few days ago Chris and I noticed a few puffy bumps in his bottom gum so maybe these teeth we'll be here soon.
Our future basketball player
Mason has had a few more firsts this month. He had his first deep belly laugh. He's had more of a squeal up to now, but the other day I was blowing kisses on his cheek and he started to "chuckle". It was absolutely priceless. He is finally beginning to understand peek-a-boo and thinks it's pretty funny. And, in the last picture I caught Mason doing the funniest thing. He was having a nap yesterday. I thought I could hear him talking (this is what he does when he wakes up lately) so I went to check on him. I peek in the door and he's got himself turned sideways in his crib. I was just about to go in when I heard his Ocean Wonders music playing (the toy attached to his crib). The little monkey figured out that by kicking it, the music turns on. So there he was kicking the toy and yelling at it. Pretty cute!!
Favorite things about my little man this month:
1. His new laugh (makes my teary every time)
2. How impatient he is (just like his mother). When he can't reach a toy, he yells at it.
3. How hard he tries to do new things
4. Still his smile; no matter what type of mood Chris or I is in, his smile makes everything seem perfect!
Until later,
Love Jenn
