Last Road Trip of the Summer

Well, summer is quickly coming to an end and Chris, Mason and I decided to take one last trip to Edmonton. One of the main reasons was to meet the latest addition to our friend's Nick and Michelle's family; Laia. Nick and Michelle are leaving to go back to Spain for the year (where Nick plays professional basketball) so we needed to see the baby before they left. Isn't she adorable. And of course, a trip to Edmonton wouldn't be complete without some great family time with Grandpa and Nanna Jo Jo (ok, talk to my mother about this one; she just can't decided what she wants Mason to call her so it changes every time we're visiting)! On Sunday, mom and dad had a barbecue with all of the family. It was such a beautiful day and Mason is starting to get more comfortable with big groups of people, so overall, the day was a big hit.

During this visit we were also really luck to get out to Long Lake and visit the Butlins. We hadn't been out since they finished their new cabin which was awesome. Mason got to play in the sand and go for a boat ride. He didn't really enjoy the water too much but he loved running around and playing.
With the weather being so hot, I tried to buy Mason a little pool for Grandpa and Nana's backyard, but being the end of the season, all I could find was this sprinkler. Mason was a little unsure of it, even though Chris tried to teach him how to run through it, but at least it will water dad's hedges!

And finally, Mason was a very lucky little man and got to see Circus Las Vegas as it made its rounds to Grande Prairie. I can honestly say that I think this afternoon was one of the highlights in Mason's little life so far. He was mesmerized from the moment we walked in. We were there for 3 hours and he didn't so much as make a boo the whole time (except for cheering and laughing that is)! We went with my friend Jacquie and her son Rory and the 2 boys just had a blast.

Mason stood like this for about 5 minutes as we watched the elephants. Next time you see him, ask what sound an elephant makes!

Yes, I forked out the money to take my man on an elephant ride. The best part was that I was first in the line for the next ride so I was up front and Mason got to sit right on the elephant's head. Have you ever been able to pet an elephant; pretty amazing.
During the actual show, Mason and Rory pigged out on popcorn, played with their light sticks (another splurge by 2 mom's who have some issues with spoiling their children), danced, cheered, and completely enjoyed themselves. I would highly recommend the circus to anyone as it was such a great day.

Well, Chris and I are heading back to work next week and Mason will be going back to Cathy's. We hope you've all been having a great summer; enjoy the rest and we hope to hear from you all soon.
Love, Jenn
